"Shu" is a natural God believed by Naxi people. It is in charge of all things in nature and is ubiquitous .The leader of "Shu" God lives in the famous mountains and rivers.Baishuitai is the important habitat of "Shuo" deity and the special Daochang for sacrificing the natural deity in Dongba Scripture.

The ancestors of the Naxi nationality believed that the ancestors of human beings and the leader of Shushan were half brothers. Later, human beings were punished by Shushan for violating Shushan. To pray for disaster relief and blessing, people sacrificed Shushan to villages in spring every year.

The belief in divinity embodies the simple understanding of the dialectical relationship between humans and nature by Naxi ancestors, which objectively and effectively restricts people's behavior of destroying nature.
