Every year, the eighth day of the second lunar month is the national festival of Naxi. Naxi, Tibet, Yi, Han, Lisu, Bai, Hui and other ethnic groups with a hundred Li radius should go to Baishuitai to sacrifice gods, travel in spring and have a picnic.
It can be seen from the newly compiled manuscript of Zhongdian annals compiled in the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty that the scale of sacrifice activities on Baishuitai was quite grand at least a hundred years ago.
On the eighth day of February, thousands of people brought abundant food and put on their national festival costumes. Before dawn, groups of people helped the old and the young set foot on the road to Baishuitai. To Baishuitai, first in front of the Qiuzi hole burning incense kowtow, and then to the fire pool to make a fire picnic. From ancient times to the present, the location of each fire pool remains the same, because families or families have set up shrines above the fire pool. On that day, Naxi people first sacrificed beside the fire , and then went to the big incense burning altar beside the spring eye of Baishuitai to burn incense and pray for blessings. For a while, the cigarettes on the incense altar were more prosperous than those on the altar. The worshipers and prayers were crowded into clusters, unable to distinguish who was chanting sutras. Around ten o' clock in the morning, the fire pools are full of fireworks. The sun shone on the ancient willows, oaks and grass. When the cigarettes started, the people from wushuwan sang first and danced "akabala".All of a sudden, with the strong rhythm of the dance, the vigorous and loud national song resounded through the sky. After lunch, people sang and danced until the sunset and the place was cleared.
