Tiger Leaping Gorge Hiking Route Map

The Tiger Leaping Gorge Scenic Area is located in the Huxi Town of Shangri-La City, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, 96 kilometers from Shangri-La City and 86 kilometers from Lijiang City. It is a gorge formed by the Jinsha River, which flows through the Haba Snow Mountain and the Yulong Snow Mountain, with altitudes of 5596 meters and 5396 meters respectively. The gorge is 23 kilometers long, with a drop of 213 meters, and the narrowest point of the river is only over 20 meters wide, with a height difference of 3900 meters between the bottom of the gorge and the mountain top. Tiger Leaping Gorge is renowned for its grandeur, uniqueness, danger, and steepness, and is a major component of the world natural heritage "Three Parallel Rivers" and a national 4A-level tourist attraction. The scenic area includes the Upper, Middle, and Lower Tiger Leaping sections, as well as the high-altitude hiking route, which is known as "one of the world's top ten classic hiking routes." It is also ranked as the fourth largest gorge in the world and the second largest in China, making it one of the ten most beautiful gorges in China. According to legend, a fierce tiger leaped across the river by slightly lifting its foot on a giant rock in the river, hence the name Tiger Leaping Gorge. Hiking in Tiger Leaping Gorge can be considered an "international route"; completing the entire journey can be summed up in one sentence: "The scenery is beautiful, with thrills but no real danger." Many Koreans and foreigners enjoy this route, and you can meet many foreigners along the way. If you have enough time and want to visit Yulong Snow Mountain, then this route is your best choice. If time is tight and you do not plan to visit Yulong Snow Mountain, it is not recommended, as Daju may charge an 80 yuan scenic area management fee in addition to the Yulong Snow Mountain ticket price. 2.
