Tiger Leaping Gorge Hiking Route Map
The Tiger Leaping Gorge Scenic Area is located in the Huxi Town of Shangri-La City, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, 96 kilometers from Shangri-La City and 86 kilometers from Lijiang City. It is a gorge formed by the Jinsha River, which flows through the Haba Snow Mountain and the Yulong Snow Mountain, with altitudes of 5596 meters and 5396 meters respectively. The gorge is 23 kilometers long, with a drop of 213 meters, and the narrowest point of the river is only over 20 meters wide, with a height difference of 3900 meters between the bottom of the gorge and the mountain top. Tiger Leaping Gorge is renowned for its grandeur, uniqueness, danger, and steepness, and is a major component of the world natural heritage "Three Parallel Rivers" and a national 4A-level tourist attraction. The scenic area includes the Upper, Middle, and Lower Tiger Leaping sections, as well as the high-altitude hiking route, which is known as "one of the world's top ten classic hiking routes."
