The most dazzling pearl deep in Shangri-La - known as: Diqing·Deqin County
Deqin County is located in the middle section of the Hengduan Mountains in the northwest of Yunnan Province, at the junction of the three provinces (regions) of Yunnan, Sichuan, and Tibet on the southern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is in the heart of the "Three Rivers (Nu River, Lancang River, Jinsha River)" area, with a total area of 7,273 square kilometers. The average elevation in the county is 4,270.2 meters. At the end of 2019, Deqin County had a permanent population of 67,100, comprising 15 ethnic groups including Tibetan, Lisu, Naxi, and Han. Among them, Tibetans account for 80.31% of the total population. Deqin County has a cold temperate mountain monsoon climate, characterized by "four seasons in one mountain, different weather across mountains." The three-dimensional climate features are obvious.

Notice: The expansion and reconstruction of Huxiang Highway is a key livelihood project in Diqing Prefecture. Its significance lies in comprehensively improving the road traffic environment within the prefecture, supporting social and economic development, aiding poverty alleviation, and promoting social harmony and stability. Since the Huxiang Line runs through the Huxiang Scenic Area of Shangri-La, Diqing Prefecture (hereinafter referred to as: the Company), it is also the only access to the Huxiang Scenic Area. The construction of the project has brought traffic safety hazards and other inconveniences to the normal operation of the Company’s scenic area. To ensure the progress of the project and the safety of tourists, the Company will close the scenic area for six months (from November 1, 2020, to April 30, 2021) in accordance with the spirit of the 61st executive meeting of the 13th Diqing Prefecture People’s Government. The flow of individual visitors to the Tiger Leaping Gorge scenic area has surged, resulting in a significant increase in the time cost for tourists to enter the scenic area for sightseeing. In light of this, the company has decided to implement measures to ensure safe tourism reception and epidemic prevention work from October 4th to October 7th. During peak visitor flow periods (10:00--16:00), when the instantaneous visitor flow reaches its highest peak, we will unconditionally take measures to limit the flow and advise visitors to return in a staggered manner. Staff will be stationed at the entrance of the scenic area to manage the flow, and we ask for your understanding, support, and active cooperation. Additionally, due to the limited parking spaces in the scenic area, visitors entering the scenic area will need to queue for about 1 hour at the visitor center.
